First Day of Teaching

“A good beginning is half of a great success,” which means that our mission trip will 300% be a complete success; for today, our first day with of students from the class of hope, was an inimitable experience of life that I’ll never forget.

First impression walking into the class- they are so bright and vivacious! Everyone of them has a taint of poverty on their outer appearance, but their smiling faces and iridescent eyes told me that G had given them his love and mercy during the myriad of hardships that they faced.

My partner teacher is Andy, the most energetic member of our team, a great communicator but most predominantly a “Laugh Generator.” Since he speaks perfect English, my job is to translate and make sure that all the students completely understand what we are teaching. Although a being a little nervous at the start of the class, We managed to finish part of our planned lesson in the scorching heat. The students are very studious and did not give us any trouble at all, it was also easy for me to bond with them for I speak Mandarin, and I left China only 5 years ago. What also shocked me, or rather pleased me was their politeness. A thunderous applause of welcoming was received when we first went into the classrooms, and “Thank you” always hung on their lips.

After we finished the morning classes at 12:30am, we took a three hour break. But I soon fin out that that was a mistake, for went we were leaving the hotel, a pillow fight broke out... for more details of this, plz visit Andy’s Blog :P.

Everyone on the teams are truly like brothers and sisters now, everyone’s getting along very well. No quarrels, no fights (expect for the Lord of Rings…), and no serious sickness, all thanks to G’s blessing.

There’s so much to write about, but it’s two o’clock in the MORNING…see if I can still wake up on time tomorrow. But tomorrow’s will be longer, hopefully, I’ll be able to do journaling earlier amongst all the hassles and excitement.
