20080725 Jack.doc

It’s hard to believe that after all these years I’m actually going back to China again! Notwithstanding the excitement that forced me to wake up 6:00am in the morning, all the preparations themselves were enough to make me tired. But thankfully, everything went as smooth as silk (I just found out that TTC can take you to the Airport…).
Despite the slight delay we had at the Pearson Airport, we had no trouble at all boarding our Boeing 777 (a jet fresh from the oven made in 2007, with personal touch screen TV). The two hour delay itself was a blessing, for we were able to play a card game called “Bang!”, which is new to me but very strategic and interesting, but most importantly, we got our precious “laughing time”.
Writing this aboard the Boeing 777 is a little awkward. After staring at the screen in front of us for hours, everyone’s so tired, even Nhat is falling asleep. But only a few more hours until we reach Beijing, where we will be meeting our other team members, then go on another 3h flight to Guiyang. When I came to Canada from China, the flight was around 24h, but this time it’s only a 13 h flight; apparently, we are flying over the Arctic. What if we crash landed in the Arctic? Everything around us will be so white that we won’t be able to tell if we are in Heaven or not…bad joke that somebody made up, hahaha.
Yes, it’s hard to believe that I’m on my way to teach English in China after five years of comfort and mundane school life in Toronto, something I’ve never dreamed of 5 years ago, but truly an experience I’m sure ill never be able to forget.
