Day two is much better since we did preparation the night before. Without tables to sit around, us three cluttered around Jon’s bed to plan and it does not help when all of us are ½ awake.
Jon adjusted fast to my teaching style and we worked seamless together. We had not figured out how to involved George as much because he is not fluent in English since he’s residence is in China. G has his reason to have George with us so we are thankful that he is there to share the joy with us.
Team Basket ball learned there class cheer:
We fly high
No Lie
You know it
Balling.
We are not into the cheer yet but they will be as they continue to gel with us.
We taught them “This is the Day” and it was wonderful to hear it coming from their lips.
We were tired and wanted a semi-break (there are 5 minutes breaks for the students which are our quick teacher’s meeting) so we had a class game intermission. We played fruit-basket and musical-chairs. Their English are getting better since they can play the game with our instructions or they just clue into our body language. Either way, we are glad they are slowly understanding us more.
I can go on and that is not a lie but I will do one more highlight – Andy did well to prepare a list of games and taught them to the teachers. At 5 pm, we played Octopus and dodge ball. In the outdoor pavement, we got some injuries and even I fell down a few times in chasing the kids. I learned to play strategically because all of them can out-run me without breaking a sweat. Our group enjoyed the games so much they wanted more and did not wanted to stop. It is exhilarating to play in the games as I needed the exercise and the space to run amuck.
Did we learn from our mistake of not to plan the night before and on Jon’s bed? Nope, so we were ½ awake doing preparation for day 3 again. After the planning, we each went to our separated room and crashed. I am usually a night owl but here, this owl is really out of his time element. Nhat out
